Mod Podge, Smodge Pod!

If you have not had the honor of meeting Mod Podge, I suggest you do so in the neat future!  This stuff has become my best friend while crafting.

You can find it at any craft store, or department store for less than six dollars.  I love to use the gloss!

Thanksgiving is a time to the Thankful!  I made a beautiful block centerpiece for my entertainment center, for Thanksgiving.  I recycled a box of old "ABC" wooden blocks my son had, and couldn't be happier with the turnout!  The whole project cost me less than six dollars.  Don't have blocks?  No problem!  You can find them at Michael's (26 for $3.99 for the small ones, 99cents each for the medium)  or any Wal-Mart (Granimals brand 50 for $12.00)
Below are the instructions, enjoy!

Supplies needed:
Scrapbook paper (any colors, patterns you want)
Scissors
Mod Podge
Sponge brush or paint brush
Blocks

Instructions:
Trace block onto paper to cut out squares.  (each block needs six squares)
Use a thin layer of Mod Podge on each side of the block, and stick cut paper to it.
Continue until all sides are covered.  (use scissors to trim any excess)
When all blocks are done, take your brush and put a thin layer of Mod Podge over all sides to give it a glossy look.
Put stickers to spell out what you want, or stencil, and any corresponding decor to attached to the blocks

EASY AS 1-2-3!

From Halloween to Thanksgiving, and all you need is a glue gun!

After Halloween, I didn't want to throw away the pumpkins I had on my porch.  They weren't carved, so they were still good!

Instead, I went into my scrap fabric, and pulled out a few colors of tulle.  I have a ton of ribbon, so I picked a fun pattern with fall colors.  I found some great wooden turkeys at Hobby Lobby for less than a dollar a pack!  Below is what I came up with.  Only cost me $1.50 for each pumpkin!  (includes the purchase of the pumpkin)

Not too shabby!  Decorating and being creative doesn't have to be expensive or hard!  The simple things go a long way.

What do you get when you combine twine with batteries?

I love decorating for Fall.  With all the Christmas stuff being stocked, right now is the perfect time to buy Fall items for a fraction of the price!

My creation

My creation
Last weekend I was at Hobby Lobby and found these cute twine balls for 50% off.  I couldn't pass up a dollar item, so I grabbed two of them.

I added a little ribbon, battery operated lights, and hung them from my front porch.  They are absolutely beautiful, and cost under $5.00 each to make.  (that includes the batteries)

A few more ideas?  Add a wooden stick to the lit   twine, hang ribbon from them, and let your flower girls  carry them for a evening/outdoor wedding.

Or, stick them in the ground at an evening/outdoor wedding and let them light up your aisle!

Use more delicate lights for beautiful centerpieces or decor.  You can even paint different sizes, and hang them in a little girls room, or use them as centerpieces for a birthday party/wedding.

You really can't go wrong with these easy and inexpensive twine balls!

Steak and Potatoes with a Rosemary twist!

Sometimes I find myself standing in my kitchen, without a clue!  I call this dinnertime.
Today, I was quite proud of a meal I kind of threw together, luckily for my family- it came out quite tasty.

I call it, "Steak and Potatoes with a Rosemary twist."

Earlier I picked a few sprigs of rosemary from our flowerbed, to take pictures for my boast about rosemary crackers.  I had also thawed steak, and had some red potatoes that I needed to use.  Below is what I came up with!

Prep time for this skillet meal was about 15 minutes.  Cooking time was about 20 minutes.  Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Recipe below!

When the weather outside is cold..... let's make crackers!

Although I would love to skip right to the Christmas decor, I can't move on just yet!  Fall is such a beautiful time of year.  All of the colors and scents, I often wonder why everyone goes from Halloween to Christmas, skimming right over Thanksgiving!  I mean, I know it is tempting when you are in a store, and Christmas is practically being shoved into your shopping cart, but the deals on the fall decor are much better this time of year!

As I was walking outside to check the mail today, I caught a pretty good smell of all the beautiful rosemary that grows in my flowerbeds.  That smell, mixed with the cold Texas breeze we have today, made me think of one of my favorite recipes, Rosemary Oat Crackers!

These crackers are fun to make, even for little hands.  My kiddos love helping me with these, and my husband is a great taste-tester! Get out the plastic knives, and assign jobs to the whole family!

As an added bonus, I am also putting the recipe for our favorite soup to go along with the crackers, Chicken Lime Soup!  It is delicious and always pleases any taste bud in our household...  Enjoy!

All things Sassy has entered the building!

I decided to start this blog to share some of my fun, crafty ideas!  I have had a lot of friends ask me how I do some of the things I do, and what better way to share?

I love taking something ordinary, and making it EXTRAORDINARY!  With my ideas, money saving tips and easy how-to's, anyone can be a sassy crafter!

Stay tuned this month as we recycle, recycle, recycle!  Making beautiful home decor out of everyday children's blocks, and Snowman themed decor you will have to see with your own eyes!
